The 2024 National Veteran Vehicle Rally will be held in Launceston, Tasmania between 18 – 23 November 2024. The Rally is proudly hosted by the Veteran Car Club of Australia (Tasmania) and held under the auspices of The Association of Veteran Car Clubs of Australia (TAVCCA).

We have planned a jam-packed itinerary to ensure you get to fully experience the Launceston region of Tasmania, while enjoying plenty of time to relax, unwind and catch up with new and lasting friends.
The Rally will start on Monday 18 November where will be greeted by locals at the  Spirit of Tasmania ‘s Devonport terminal.  We will drive from there to our Rally destination in Launceston taking our time and enjoying the sights and back roads.
After 5 days of rallying around Tasmania the rally will conclude with our drive back to the Devonport terminal of the Spirit of Tasmania on Saturday 23 November 2024 for the night sailing.  Once we arrive back in Victoria we will then travel back to the trailer parking location.
We will have tail end Charlie(s) for the duration of the  rally  to assist with keeping all the cars motoring as well as access to the Launceston club rooms and workshop.
We hope to see you all in Launceston,
Your rally directors

SPIRIT OF TASMANIA bookings open 12 months in advance, please book early.
Make sure you book your trip early, it’s a very long swim!  At least one of the new boats should be in the water ready for us to test out. Don’t forget, the boat now leaves and arrives from its Geelong terminal in Victoria.
Parking for trailers and ‘modern’ cars is available in Little River, on the Victorian side, as well as in Devonport. If you are planning on arriving early, or staying on a bit longer we can help with car storage, please advise of your requirements for parking on both sides of the ferry in the EOI form. Bookings for the boat can be made on their website:

it's important we book straight away (especially if you are planning to bring a motorhome or anything over height as spots are limited). We have researched a comparison of prices on the Spirit of Tasmania so that entrants can decide whether to bring a caravan / trailer set up,  share a cabin or book a motel room. We are able to store veteran cars either before or after the rally if entrants want to extend their stay in Tasmania. There are many free camping spots in prime positions and the Southern section of our club would allow parking at their rooms in Hobart if you are self contained. As they are on tank water and septic neither would be available to replenish your van.

The comparison is based on figures for July 2024 as all over height (over 2.1 metres) for August was booked and September was not available as yet.

Along with the prices for the caravan park and motel that are in the newsletter, you can hopefully make a decision on your preferred accommodation as it will be imperative that you book the boat this November  if you wish to bring anything over height.

The fares are one way only. Make sure if you are towing that you choose caravan / camper trailer not trailer as the Federal rebate only applies to camping set ups. I have not factored in cabins or the passenger fares, just the vehicles.
The passenger fare is $138 and the cabins are different prices.
A car only is $179. Remember we will have a tail-end Charlie between the boat and Launceston but there is an expectation that your veteran will be roadworthy at the beginning of the rally.

If your car / camping set up is up to:
10 metres the cost is $479.
11 metres is $564.
12 metres is $649.
13 metres is $734.
14 metres is $819.
15 metres is $904.

By comparison 12 metres car and trailer is $975 and 14 metres is $1177 hence the need to ensure you indicate it is a camper / caravan. Phone bookings attract a $50 surcharge.

We also have trailer storage on the Victoria side, about 15 minutes from the Spirit berth for a small fee for the week. Details of this will be issued with entry forms.

Any questions, please reach out.

The below email was sent to me 18/4/24

Hi all,

Unfortunately council decision making on our sponsorship request won't be made until mid May so we have decided to hold off on sending out the entry forms until this has happened. We are hoping for a positive result and as such this will reduce the entry fee, we are working hard to make this as affordable as possible. Apologies for not hitting the date we advertised, but we are sure you will enjoy the savings. We will keep you updated when the entry forms are available, later in May.

A few other points:
The boat is filling up quickly, limited spots available, and prices are increasing the closer we get, so book now if you haven't already.
Accommodation is also filling up quickly, so make sure you have done this now. The suggested venues are only holding spots until the end of April.
We look forward to seeing you in Tasmania in November, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thanks,

Rally Directors
